This set of resources is this site's archive for the
Kitzmiller, et al. v. Dover Area School District
federal court case sometimes called "Scopes II" or the "Dover
Panda Trial" by the media. At stake was a pro-intelligent design
school board policy and the book
Of Pandas and
People that first introduced the term "intelligent
design" as meaning a specific field of inquiry rather than incidental use as a descriptive term.
On December 20, 2005, the
court ruled for the plaintiffs, against
the school board, and against intelligent design.
The victory was not just legal: the pro-intelligent design school board was replaced by the voters
on November 8, 2005.
This Archive also has an article,
The Discovery Institute Quote Mines
Judge Jones, that discusses some misleading creationist quoting of the
judge in this case. It is part of a larger effort to debunk the
evolution quotes used by
evolution deniers of all sorts.
