RSS is a means of which a user can see content of a web site without actually surfing it. RSS is usually used to distribute news or to alert users of new items at a web site. The use of RSS requires an RSS reader. The Opera browser comes with comes with one built in. The Firefox browser has a powerful live bookmarks feature for reading RSS. The Bloglines site (requires free registration) has a web-based RSS reader. Webmasters can also display headlines on their site from another site by having a script retrieve that site's RSS file.
