Claim CE301:

The number of neutrinos detected coming from the sun is only about a third of what is predicted by standard solar models. This indicates a lack of nuclear fusion in the sun, supporting gravitational collapse theory.

Response:

  1. A new, more sensitive neutrino detector has found that the number of electron neutrinos coming from the sun is less than expected, but the total number of neutrinos coming from the sun matches predictions. Apparently, neutrinos are changing flavor en route as a result of quantum mechanical effects (Ahmad et al. 2002).
