Claim CD222:
Juvenile water, the water added to oceans through volcanoes, hot springs,
and other vents, is added at such a rate that the oceans could
not be more than 320 million years old to be as full as they are now.

Response:
- Water is removed from the ocean into the earth's crust, too. Around
rift systems, water is circulated underground thermally. At subduction
zones, water is subducted along with the oceanic plates. In fact, the
water (and carbon) that is subducted lowers the melting point of the
rock, ultimately causing the volcanoes from which the juvenile water
comes (Decker and Decker 1998, 84-85). In short, juvenile water is not
really juvenile; it is recycled.
