Claim CB928.1:

If human intelligence is beneficial, why have other apes not evolved anything equivalent?

Response:

  1. A trait that is beneficial to one organism is not necessarily beneficial to another. Other life shows that intelligence is not necessary to survive and thrive. Human intelligence in particular is energetically costly. Other apes may simply be better off without it.
