Claim CA640:

Evolution says you are descended from a monkey. Do you want to be descended from a monkey?

Response:

  1. What we want does not determine what is. To believe that reality will bend to our wishes is a form of hubris.

  2. What is wrong with being related to a monkey? In Yoruba tradition, it is believed that twins are descended directly from monkeys, and twins are considered good fortune (Courlander 1996, 233-238). Being related to a monkey does not make you a monkey. It does not make you any different from what you are.
